What Can I Do About A Large Gap Between My Front Teeth?

What Can I Do About A Large Gap Between My Front Teeth? If you have seen photos of models such as Georgia May Jagger, Cara Delavigne, or Lauren Bacall, you know that front teeth that have a gap are in fashion. There's a big difference between a small gap between front teeth, which can be cute, and a large gap, which may present problems. For people who don't want a large gap between their front teeth, there are ways dentists can close the gap.

Braces or Aligners

People with large gaps between their front teeth can have the gap fixed with either braces or aligners. Both braces and aligners can fix tooth spacing problems, including tooth gaps, by spacing all of your top teeth equally. Adults with front tooth gaps may want to opt for clear braces or aligners because they are less noticeable.

Appliances

Orthodontists also recommend retainers for people who have a large tooth gap. Instead of wearing braces or aligners all day, you would wear a retainer at night. Just like braces or aligners, retainers respace your front teeth by gradually closing the gap. Retainers also allow you to eat, drink, and practice good oral hygiene because you can remove them.

Bonding, Veneers or Surgery

Some people with large tooth gaps in their front teeth opt to use bonding to close the gap. Bonding means that the dentist or orthodontist uses a bonding agent that is the same color as your front teeth to close the space. Bonding is made of a composite material that is durable, so it is a great choice for closing the tooth gap. If you have several problems with your upper teeth, such as cracking or chipping, you can also choose to have veneers placed on your upper teeth.

Veneers are made of porcelain and immediately fix all of your tooth gap woes with a row of beautiful, uniform, white teeth. If you are relatively young, you may want to have surgery to remove part of the frenum muscle, which will push your teeth closer together. There are many solutions for you if you want to rid yourself of your front tooth gap.
