Do you want to improve your smile without wearing braces with metal brackets and wires? Fortunately, you do have options if you wish to realign crowded teeth or correct your bite. Invisalign allows you to straighten your teeth while being barely noticeable.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of virtually invisible removable aligners made of a clear plastic material. The aligners are thin, clear trays that are custom-made using 3D computer imaging technology and digital smile design software. The aligners fit over your teeth and straighten your smile without feeling self-conscious professionally and socially.

How Does It Work?

We will take images of your teeth, including photos, digital scans, and digital x-rays. Once we have made the images, they are sent to Invisalign with directions on how the teeth will be moved. Skilled technicians will create a series of clear aligners that will fit perfectly over your teeth. It takes about 2-3 weeks for the aligners or trays to arrive to our office and you will return for a fitting and to receive the aligners.

How Often Do I Have To Wear The Aligners?

We advise that you wear your aligners 22 hours each day during your treatment. Therefore, you will need to wear your trays almost full-time to achieve optimal results. It is important that you follow this process. Otherwise, you will have problems with fitting your teeth in the next tray, which can cause a good amount of discomfort and the teeth will not move as planned.

The aligners place a precisely-tuned amount of pressure on the teeth, so they gradually move. As the trays are switched out, your teeth become increasingly straighter and better aligned. You wear each set of aligners for one week, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. After one week, you will switch them out for a new set of trays. You will need to visit our office approximately every 8-10 weeks so that we can check the progress of your treatment. After your Invisalign treatment ends, you will need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth from shifting.

Benefits of Invisalign

•  Clear aligners are virtually invisible.
•  The aligners are removable so you can enjoy your favorite meals without restrictions.
•  Your oral hygiene routine stays the same. You can floss and brush normally.
•  Your appointments will be shorter and fewer.

While there are benefits to both braces and aligners, the process is different. The doctors at Rendon Orthodontics will help you determine which option is the best for you.
